Religion: Fasting Part II

Religion and Fastiing

Decades ago, at one point in my life, I refrained from fasting. I feared it was only a means of trying to manipulate God. When I was able to move beyond this, I saw that fasting is the greatest way to elevate the spirit above the flesh, to get things in proper order. We were created spirit, soul and body, but after the fall, the order was inverted. We concentrate so much on our bodies. If only we worked out our spirit as much as we exercise our bodies!

Remember, your body goes back to the dust; your spirit goes with you forever!

I promise you, I promise you, God is way more concerned about the health of your spirit than the health of your body, and if you are physically or mentally in anguish, fast. Also, if you are stumped and stupefied as to all the suffering you are enduring and what God is letting you get pummeled, it is because He wants to strengthen you spiritually!

Of course, the health of your flesh benefits with fasting, too, and healing can occur. In fact, on an extended fast, after 21 days, the body begins to eat all the bad tissue in the body and deep healing can initiate, too. Jesus Prays in the Garden

In the past, I have fasted the maximum amount the body will allow, that wonderful biblical number of forty days. Beyond this and the body begins to feast on the organs. I would suggest you are under a doctor’s care if you are going to do this, and have had a direct calling from God without a doubt. The body can go through a lot of stress and you really need to know how to come off a fast of any great length. If you have any questions, you can ask me in the comment box or find someone with experience in lengthy fasts.

Another amazing thing about fasting and praying, the longer you fast, the more this is true, you become aware of everything on the spiritual plane. You recognize and identify the spirits around you, the spirits bothering other people. Everything is black and white.

The world has its methods of obtaining insight into unseen worlds, and none of these would I recommend. If you want to be more victorious, to increase your spiritual senses and discipline your body, if you have urgent prayers and want to be ushered into the presence of God, anoint your head and wash your face. Grab your bible and go into your closet and fast and pray!
