Sonnet of the Sky

Today I hope to move you with another Sunday Sonnet. I also hope these are some of the best modern sonnets you may be reading. That they move you and make you feel and ponder.

IN THE DISTANCE, HIGH UPON THE  SEA SKY
AS THE MOUNTAIN RIDGES CREASE, DROP AND FOLD,
WHEN THE GREEN IS LOST, TURNING EARTH TO GOLD.
I CANNOT DISTINGUISH WITH MY PLAIN EYES

IF THERE COMES A HOST OF CLOUDS OR IF CLOUDS
MELT INTO WATER AS THIS FAR COLOR
HIDES IN A SHADE OF  PALE GREY OR LIGHT BLUE.
WILL IT BRING RAIN AND COLD OR WARM BREEZES.

NO POWER OVER WEATHER AS I LIKE,
I SIT ON MY TERRACE FACING THE SOUTH.
IF SKY IS GREY I WILL SOON BE IN CLOUD.
IF IT BE BLUE, I WILL SIT HERE AND WRITE.

FOR THE MOMENT I CAN ONLY WONDER.
WILL THERE COME SUNSHINE; WILL THERE COME THUNDER.
